Not necessarily. In this guide I walk through what a Central Asian buyer actually paid and what those price gaps usually mean. I use contract numbers from a line we delivered in 2025, and I treat them as anchors, not quotes — raw-material prices and the exchange rate move.
What a complete line really costs
A full wet-wipes production line is not one machine. It is a forming and folding section, a dosing system, a flow-pack wrapper, and — if you sell multi-packs — a multipack unit. Each stage is priced separately, and this is where quote gaps come from.
On lines we signed in 2024–2025, a complete super-mini production line with a multipack unit ran between USD 140,000 and 160,000 FOB. The same line without multipack was around USD 114,000. A laser coding unit added roughly USD 5,800 per machine. These numbers come from contracts, so treat them as reference points, not today’s price.
The lesson is the configuration gap. Adding or removing the multipack unit swings the total by tens of thousands of dollars. When two suppliers quote “the same line” and the prices are far apart, one of them is usually quoting the trimmed version. Ask each supplier to list exactly what is included before comparing.
Running costs: the budget buyers forget
A complete line is one investment. Keeping it running is the other, and it is where budgets quietly leak. The recurring costs are raw material — nonwoven, wiping solution, and packaging film — plus power, water, and labour. Raw material is usually the largest of these, and it scales with output.
Two budgeting habits help. First, ask the supplier for a per-package consumption figure: how much nonwoven and film a typical pack takes. That single number lets you estimate your material cost per pack before you sign, instead of discovering it after the line is running. Second, plan the payback around realistic output, not the rated maximum. A line rated at a high speed in packs per minute rarely holds that through a full shift. Changeovers, jams, and material variations pull actual output well below the rating, and budgeting on the rated number is how payback periods get disappointed.
Most small and medium buyers in this region plan on recovering the machine investment within 12 to 24 months of steady operation. That range is a planning assumption, not a promise — it depends heavily on your selling price and local demand. What moves it in your favour is utilisation. The more shifts the line runs, the faster the fixed cost spreads.
Lead time: the 60-day promise and the hidden weeks
The standard lead time on this type of machine is about 60 days. In our experience the machine is usually ready on that schedule. What stretches the timeline is everything around it: confirming the power supply, the plant layout, and the commissioning plan before production begins.
In 2025 we delivered and installed a hygiene line in Tajikistan. The buyer negotiated price hard in the early weeks — the right instinct, and the wrong place to spend the time. What actually consumed calendar time was not the price. It was the surrounding decisions. The machine was ready on schedule; the choices around it were what delayed the start.

Central Asia is landlocked. The machine moves by sea to a gateway port and then by truck across the border. Two practical consequences follow.
First, ask for the machine to be export-packed with fumigation — it reduces customs and handling problems at the border. Second, check whether your supplier has shipped to your country before. The power question that prevents half the downtime
Most Chinese machines are built for 380V/50Hz. In many Central Asian plants the supply matches on paper — and that match is the trap. Brownouts and shared, poorly earthed circuits trip servo drives on cost-cut lines. Ask the supplier two questions before you sign: what happens when voltage sags 10–15%, and does the line need its own earthed circuit? These questions cost nothing and skip a category of downtime.
How to verify a supplier without flying over
If you are buying from China and cannot visit the factory, verification is not a luxury. It is the deposit protection.
Start with the basics you can check yourself. Does the company have a verifiable registered address, a consistent company name across its website and export documents, and a track record of shipping machinery to your region? A supplier who has exported to neighbouring countries before will usually have references you can ask for.
Then go one level deeper before wiring a deposit. Ask for a live video walkthrough of the factory floor and the machine — not a pre-recorded clip. Ask to see the machine with the nameplate visible, and match the model number to the quotation. If the supplier hesitates on a live call, that is information.
