- Cutting, counting and wrapping — finished pads are cut, counted, and (on higher-end lines) wrapped and bagged automatically.

Production speed — design vs actual
Suppliers quote a design speed and a lower actual production speed. Ask for both, plus the efficiency rate (good lines run ≥85–88%) and the rejection rate (≤2–3% on quality machines). A machine rated at 800/min that realistically runs 500–600/min at 88% efficiency is doing fine — but you need those numbers to plan capacity honestly.
Pad sizes and changeover
Most lines are set up for two sizes (for example 240/280 mm or 280/320 mm). Decide your sizes up front. Running more than two sizes can compromise stability and quality, so don’t pay for changeover flexibility you won’t use.
Sealing technology
Two common approaches:
- Ultrasonic sealing — bonds layers with ultrasonic waves and a steel roller, no thread and no heat. It gives a flatter, cleaner, wrinkle-free finish, and the steel cutting dies last far longer than traditional ones.
- Heat / thermal embossing — bonds with heat and pressure.
Ultrasonic is generally the better finish for modern thin pads; ask which the machine uses.
Component quality
This is what separates a machine that lasts from one that doesn’t: full-servo drives, imported bearings and timing belts, and a proper tension-control / web-guide system that keeps materials stable at full speed. Cheaper machines cut corners here and pay for it in downtime.
Material flexibility
Confirm the machine handles the materials you’ll use — PP nonwoven, hot-air/air-through nonwoven, PE film, SAP, and hydrophilic nonwoven — and whether it can make both ultra-thin (more SAP, less pulp) and thicker pads if that’s your plan.
Integrated vs separate packaging
Higher-end lines offer an optional automatic packing unit (stacker + bagger). Integrated packaging saves labor but adds cost; a separate packing machine can be added later as you scale.

- Your target volume. Estimate monthly demand, then pick the speed tier that meets it at ~85% efficiency — with a little headroom, not triple the capacity.
